02 Access Charges – Following on from our previous blogs regarding Ofcom’s new legislation introducing changes to the way calls to 0800, 0808, 084,087, 09, 116 and 118 numbers are billed. The changes are reported to have been designed to make it easier for everyone to understand how much calls to these numbers cost.
As of July 1st 2015 last year the following charges were applied to calls from the O2 network to 08, 09 and 118 numbers.
We thought with all the changes surrounding telecoms at the moment you might appreciate an update withy these costs and so we have put together this quick blog to highlight them for you if you are using O2 through us or anyone else.
All pricing below is RRP ex VAT before any wholesale discounts:
- Calls from mobiles to Freephone numbers (0800 / 0808) are now free of charge.
- O2’s Access Charges for 08 numbers (outside Freephone), 118 and 09 numbers are as follows:

O2 Access Charges for calls to 118 numbers are as follows:
- Existing customers and new connections for existing customers remain on current rates for 08 numbers. All 118 numbers have increased from £4.17 pm ex VAT to a £5.83 pm connect fee + £2.92 pm after the first minute ex vat.
- About 300 09 numbers out of c. 5000 have increased to a £5.00 pm connect fee + £3.00 pm after the first minute. The connect fee mentioned is an instant charge. i.e. a 1 second call is charged £5.00. A 59 second call is charged £5.00. A 1 minute, 1 second call is charged £5.00 + the 1 second increment of £3.00 pm (i.e. 5 pence per second).
