Office Relocation for Fylde CNC
When precision engineering specialists Fylde CNC decided to relocate premises, they sought a new telecoms provider to assist them in the move. After much milling about online it was Lancashire based company Tech IP that they decided had all the components they were looking for to help them with the new move.
Based in the North West of England Fylde CNC are one of the leading UK companies for precision engineering, and with contracts globally in a number of different sectors, it was vital that the relocation ran as smoothly as possible. One concern that Fylde had about the move, was whether or not they should move their current phone system to the new premises or if it would be more beneficial to replace the system whilst moving.
“The Panasonic telephone system that we had at the old premises had served us well but we were aware of a few issues with it that could do with improving. In particular, the way we handled incoming calls was something we were keen to look at improving,” recalls Julie Fairclough, Office Manager of the company which has a long-standing reputation for precision and reliability worldwide.
A meeting was set up with Tech IP to discuss the telecoms issues and after some expert advice and recommendations on the matter, it was quickly established that the company required an improved support service for their current telephone system to assist with changes and general ongoing support issues.
“When we met with Tech IP we were very impressed at just how efficient they were at coming to understand what it was we needed in the new premises. They were able to recommend a number of different options, all of which would benefit the business both in efficiency and cost.”
The preferred solution Tech IP came up with for Fylde CNC Specialists was to upgrade and relocate the existing Panasonic telephone system as opposed to replacing it with a totally new one. This protected the investment already made into the system and gave the best return on investment possible.
An upgrade on the type of telephone lines used was agreed to provide new features, along with an updated automated attendant greeting for calls on the main published number using professionally recorded announcements with incoming call routing to the relevant staff / departments. With their telecoms issues in hand, it meant Fylde CNC were really looking forward to the move.
However, things didn’t go totally to plan for either business and the project came up against some major challenges with delivery times from the network.
“Initially we had planned to upgrade the telephone lines at Fylde CNC from analogue at the old site over to ISDN at the new premises but unfortunately the BT network was at full capacity at the local exchange cabinet that was feeding the new site. Because of this that part of the project had to be halted which was bad news for everyone involved in the move,” says Ian Hilton at Tech IP.
This led to long delays with Fylde CNC Specialist having to relocate without a phone system available from day one at their new premises. But Tech IP were not giving up that easily and were determined to find an effective solution to the problem and with it deliver the high quality service that their reputation relies on.
Having re-evaluated the situation, a new solution was agreed to cancel the ISDN telephone line orders and alter the telephone system upgrade and line provision to use voice over IP lines using Internet which had already been installed and was working giving a short term solution to overcome the problem with extended delays.
Manager, Julie Fairclough comments: “We certainly had our challenges and strokes of bad luck with this part of our move, sometimes it’s when things don’t go according to plan that you really find out if your suppliers are good enough and I have to say Tech IP were with us every step of the way and were tremendously supportive in getting the system up and running. They really helped to push things along as quickly as possible, making the right changes for us along the way and gave us the best advice and service we’ve had. We are so pleased to have them as a supplier moving forward and would recommend speaking with them if you are planning a move in the future for sure.”
