Millions of customers will be hit by the raft of planned price hikes from some of the UK’s largest telephone providers in October this year. However, there is a way to escape your business telephone contract — penalty-free if you act in time!
If you’ve had a new cost sprung on you out of nowhere and you’re not happy with it, according to Ofcom’s review into the fairness of contract price terms, – if you took out your contract after the 23rd January 2014, you have the right to cancel your business telephonercontract without paying any penalty fees. Furthermore:
Ofcom felt it was unfair that millions of telecoms customers were being caught out by unfair price rises. As a result, they implemented these changes to make it fair for all customers.
Many businesses can expect to see a large percentage increase across the board from these providers. The below is just a brief summary of what to expect from the new price hikes:
- Price increases on all types of phone line rentals
- Price increases on all broadband products
- Removal of inclusive call essentials bundles altogether
Combat the price increase on your business telephone contract
If your monthly bill is going up – your provider must give you 30 days’ notice of changes to your contract. If you’re not happy with the new cost you’re entitled to cancel. And this is with no penalty as long as its within 30 days of receiving the price-hike letter. Even if you’re still within the minimum terms of your contract.
