As of June this year OFCOM rules come into effect which will make all 0800 numbers free to call from mobile phones as well as landlines.
This will mark an end to warnings on adverts saying “calls may vary from other landlines and calls from mobiles may cost considerably more”.
Ofcom have also declared that the new rules would mean a cap on premium rate call charges, to 09 numbers, to protect consumers from rogue operators imposing extremely high charges.
Many companies may well choose to differentiate themselves by having a Freephone number for all incoming client calls on the back of this, indeed why should your customer pay anything to deal with you?
It makes sense that once the mobile companies are brought into line with free phone calls actually becoming free, this will provide an opportunity for some companies to lead the way on making it free to contact them as an existing or potential new client.
Freephone numbers in the past have generally been used to attract new customers on the back of marketing campaigns but as the cost of outbound and inbound calls has reduced so much over the years, paying around 4 pence per minute to cover a call from your new or existing clients might just give your business the edge over competitors.
We can even give 0800 numbers to your individual sales people and route the incoming calls to their office or mobile number or both, making them even easier to contact for free.
Freephone really will mean will mean “free”, which means you won’t be charged to call 0800, 0808 and 116 numbers from your mobile.
